God consists of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Spirit (Holy Spirit/Ghost).
This is known as the Holy Trinity. Holy Trinity is not a term used in the Bible but is a way to describe the God that is spoken of in the Bible. They all make up God, but each is their own distinct person.
Jesus is our Savior.
He is God, but also came to earth in human form to act as a sacrifice for our sins. He is the only way to God the Father and eternal life in heaven. There is no other way (via person, religion, status, deeds, etc.). He is also the only head of the Church. There is no other head of the Christian church on earth.
John 14:6 [NLT]: Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me…”
The Holy Spirit was sent to help us to live the way God wants us to live.
He is known as the Advocate/Helper. He was made available to all believers during Pentecost after the Ascension.
John 14:26 [NLT]: “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative – that is, the Holy Spirit – He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
The Bible is the Word of God. He “inspired” His Word.
2 Timothy 3:16 [NLT]: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.”
2 Peter 1:20-21 [NLT]: Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
The Bible is inerrant (free from error).
God cannot lie. (Titus 1:2) God inspired His Word.
The Word of God refers to:
The Bible. Anything that comes out of His mouth or is communicated by the real Holy Spirit (thru you or anyone else). God Himself. God’s Promises. The Law. The Truth.
We as Christians are to read/listen, meditate, know, and live the Word of God (Scripture of the Bible).
This is NOT optional. We cannot know our God truly if we don’t know His Word. We cannot know what He desires of us if we don’t know His Word. We cannot defend ourselves spiritually if we do not know His Word.
Joshua 1:8 [NLT]: Study this Book of Instruction (The Bible/Scripture) continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
